zentangle hair silhouettes.

It really feels like we’re getting into the solid swing of things around the art room these last couple of weeks! You can definitely tell by the pile of artworks to grade I keep compiling each day. This project, Zentangle Hair Designs, was a definite “fan favorite” from last school year. So many students were excited to begin this artwork by just remembering seeing previous student’s work in the hallways. What they really didn’t realize, however, was how fun and easy this project is!

abstract bicycle paintings.

Starting off the second semester in painting, I told my now painting two students that this was their time to start developing their own style and feel for painting. They have been doing so well with the groundwork; color mixing, harmony, composition, overlapping, etc – What you want to see in high school paintings. However, more often than not, I find too many high schoolers in the beginning years of painting being too rigid and predictable in their paintings. Paintings are free and expressive people, do it!
